I went to HighTopps open mic last night, which is hosted by C.O.V.E., it was nice, there were many girl performers which I don't see much of, it was nice. After my set I got a couple of really nice complements, got to see my old friend Jodi play, she lives in Oregon, but she used to play at College Perk back in the day, aaah the memories =). One of the new people I met was Jimmy, he remembered me from my open mic set at Teavolve the week before, and was sad that he had missed my set. He works for/with Last Call Baltimore, which is a local booking and promotion organization, he's interested in adding me to their roster. I checked their site out, they have local heroes like Jah Works & The Bridge (who played Artscape in 2008), and even a couple of bands that have been featured on 98 Rock. I'm interested to see what could happen from this, hopefully more paid gigs and larger venues would come out of this. We'll see =)
My good friend and musical arab comrade Khaled shot me an email today suggesting The Music Lesson, by Grammy Winning Bassist Victor Wootlen, as a good read for me. I read the synopses, its almost like The Alchemist but for musicians, AND its on Sony's eBook Store, sweeeet! so I'll be downloading that sucker by this weekend.
So did you read it?!
