It has been an eventful week for SURE! Wow.
Elvis
I'm honor to say that my Elvis cover of "Mirage" won the friendly challenge at Six Mile Coffee last week, sweeet. I got 3 prizes for it. A $10 certificate to Six Mile Coffee, a $10 certificate to House of Musical Traditions, & the "Almost In Love" Elvis vinyl, its SO freakin cool, yay.
Rob of ilyAIMY (who hosts this open mic) was awesome enough to actually record the event & post it on his UStream channel. You can see all the performances here (my cover is around the 1:58:47 mark) :)
The blow out
Sahffi blessed the Friday gig at teavolve by playing the 1st set of the show, & doing a great job as usual, she also backing instant Sound Gal (thank you Sahff-Sahff)
Ms.Fridrich set was really cool, she brought a couple of her choir singers to back her up, while she rocked out on Piano, it was really neat. :)
My set was going well, until half way through my guitar started giving out, so Sahffi was kind enough to allow me to play "Maria" her beautiful custom made guitar, things seemed to be going well, then during the last song "Guilt & Empathy", the speakers popped and just stop sending out sound..literally during the very last chorus.
So Sahffi, Jon, & I just said that last part with no mics! poor Kristen was stranded on the cello, because she was using her electric one, she couldn't do anything at that point :(
But people still seemed to have enjoyed the "dynamics" of show, also another bummer was my good friend Alejandra & her Husband came to see me perform for the 1st time in almost 5 years ago, sigh! but she was so supportive she bought 2 CDs one for her, and the other for a friend, I love you guys!.
Now during this week, we'll have to test out Sahffi's P.A. to figure out what the problem is. Luckily I have a P.A. for us to use during that time, its older, so it usually sounds like I'm singing from the bottom of a well, so we'll have to figure out the right adjustments for that as well...man, thats a lot of P.A. Testing!
BUT we still were able to make all our gigs this weekend, and still sound good.
yay perseverance.
