goatFISH Weekend

It was a goatFISH filled weekend, Sahffi & I recorded our 1st goatFISH song on Saturday. We set up the Zoom R24 at the infamous Sahffire Lounge, and took a stab at it. I must say, it came out really well. We held no punches, the track has guitars, djembe, shakers, thump piano, tambourine, & vocal harmonies. Oh yea! we went crazy! I think we ended up using 21-23 of the 24 tracks available on the device, just for that song! Now comes the "learning curve". I will have to transfer all those tracks into my PC & then learn to work some magic to make them sound even better than they are :)

The good news is, it gave me an opportunity to learn the ZR24, its a pretty fantastic device. I also learned that I need to do two things before our next recording session.
#1: get instrument mics:
The condenser & my Raven mics are good with vocals, but I needed to add some effects to get the desired sound of the Djembe

#2: get brass strings:
Even though I absolutely love my flat wound strings, they are not the best for recording. The guitar ends up sounding very plasticy & muffled. So I will have to make the switch to brass strings to get a clearer sound during recording.

I'm hoping that during the learning process doesn't take too long, so that the next session would go much quicker, and hopefully we'll have less tracks to work with :)

All in all, I think it was a great learning experience, I'm really looking forward to the next session.

Much Love
Mosno
